Wichita’s Kevin Regan Named Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week
GLENDALE, AZ (December 11, 2012) –The Central Hockey League announced today that Wichita Thunder goaltender Kevin Regan has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 9, 2012.
This marks the second time this season that Regan has earned the weekly honor (Nov. 6) and in recognition of his achievement, Regan will receive a special gift from Oakley. To learn more about all of Oakley’s products, visit www.oakley.com.
Regan had three appearances last week winning all of them while allowing just four total goals. The South Boston, Massachusetts native stopped 70 of 74 shots (.946 save percentage). The week started with a 2-1 shootout victory in Rapid City where he turned away 23 of 24 shots. He then stopped 20 shots in Friday’s 6-2 win over Tulsa and then finished the week with a 27 save effort in his club’s 3-1 win over Quad City on Sunday.
CHL Goaltending Leaders
The 2003 draft selection of the Boston Bruins leads the league with nine wins on the season and is also tops with 382 saves and more than 970 minutes in net. His 2.16 goals against average is second in the CHL.
