Dell and Clemente Earn First Pro Shutouts on NYE
A pair of rookie CHL net minders ended 2012 on a high note with both Missouri’s Mike Clemente and Allen’s Aaron Dell ending the year with shutouts against their opponents on New Year’s Eve.
Clemente turned away 35 shots in the Mavericks 1-0 win over the Tulsa Oilers on Monday improving to 16-11-4 on the season. For Clemente, the CHL Rookie of the Month for October, he improves to 13-4-3 on the season leading all CHL goalies with 13 wins.
Ryan Jardine scored the Mavs loan goal of the game on the power play.
In Allen, Dell got a little more support with Brian McMillin, Kip Brennan, Ryley Grantham and Jarret Lukin scoring goals in the 4-0 win over the Quad City Mallards.
Dell made 26 saves in the game improving to11-3-1 on the season and lowering his league-best goals against average to 1.82. Dell was the CHL Goalie of the Month for November.
For the rookies, it marks their first shutouts in their professional careers.
