One week after David Lohrei resigned as the head coach of the Arizona Sundogs, the team has their new leader as on Wednesday morning the Sundogs announced that Scott Muscutt will take over as their coach.
The Sundogs have played three games since Lohrei’s departure and have won them all meaning the motivational powers of Muscutt could not be coming in at a better time.
Sitting in a tie for fifth place in the Berry Conference with a 22-20-4 record, the Sundogs could be primed to make a move and be a dangerous club come playoff time.
Muscutt has done it all in the CHL and WPHL. The last time he coached a team, he was hoisting the Presidents’ Cup in Game Seven of the 2011 CHL Finals, one of the best Finals ever.
The former player has 11 years of coaching experience, all with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, leading his team to the post-season in 10 of those 11 seasons, the Finals in four campaigns and two titles.
Among the coaching fraternity, Muscutt is second all-time on the CHL coaching wins list with 432 and he is second with 709 games coached. His al-time record is 432-213-64 which carries the fourth highest win percentage of all time.
The Sundogs new coach will be behind the bench this weekend when Arizona travels to Rapid City to play the Rush.
