Well-traveled Mallards rack up miles

Travel around the Thanksgiving holiday is a normal occurrence, but the Quad-City Mallards did more than their share.
Counting tonight’s game at Missouri, the Mallards have squeezed in six games in 10 nights since Nov. 21, dating to a game at Fort Worth, Texas. The only arena the Mallards have played in more than once in that stretch is Fort Worth’s NYTEX Sports Center, leading to a lot of time on the road.
“I ought to get a new suitcase, because I’ve run out of sticker space to put on my suitcase,” Mallards coach Terry Ruskowski said. “I’ve been to Wichita, I’ve been to Texas, I’ve been here, I’ve been there. I feel like Johnny Cash. I’ve been everywhere.”
Over the past two weeks, Nov. 19 has been the only day the Mallards have spent in the Quad-Cities without playing a game. That was the day after a home contest with Rapid City, and Ruskowski gave the team the day off before its bus trip to Fort Worth.
