Allen Americans Remain On Top of Sher-Wood Coaches Poll
GLENDALE, AZ (December 14, 2012) – The Allen Americans have lost little steam and have maintained their lead in the CHL and thus, have been rewarded by being voted the #1 team on the Sher-Wood Coaches Poll for a second straight poll. The Americans are 15-5-1 sitting one point ahead of the #2 team in the poll, the Wichita Thunder (14-7-2).
The poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc.
The Americans and the Thunder are the only two CHL teams to receive first place votes with Allen earning eight of them and Wichita the remaining two top votes on the individual polls (teams are unable to vote for themselves).
Allen’s 12 point lead over Wichita shrunk to just seven points in the current poll (now lead 89 points to 82 points). Rounding out the top five are Denver (74 points), Rapid City (61 points) and Bloomington (57 points).
The biggest jump in the poll came from both Rapid City and Fort Worth who each moved up two spots. The biggest fall came from Arizona who dropped from #5 to #9.
