Father's Persistence Pays Off for Mallards' Perdicaro

On game days, Quad-City Mallards forward Anthony Perdicaro has two things that are always part of his pregame ritual.

The first is a short prayer before the national anthem, which makes perfect sense for a man with a tattoo of St. Christopher on his right arm. The second is a phone call to his father, Charles, whom Perdicaro calls before and after every game.

That makes even more sense, because without Charles Perdicaro’s teaching and support, Anthony wouldn’t be the player he is, and might not have gotten into hockey at all.

“My dad always had me watching hockey,” Perdicaro said. “When you’re young, you want to be outside running around with your friends or playing street hockey, but we always watched the (New York) Rangers, guys like Adam Graves, Mark Messier and Brian Leetch.
