The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and Amarillo Gorillas both evened their respective playoff series at 2-2 with victories Thursday night. The sputtering Mudbug offense finally got into their groove with a physical 7-5 win in Wichita, while the Gorillas never trailed in a 4-1 home ice win over New Mexico.
Despite a 2-0 first period disadvantage, Bossier-Shreveport finally got to Wichita netminder Jon Horrell and chased him from the game after six consecutive scores to ensure there will be at least a Game 6 Tuesday at the CebturyTel Center. Emotions escalated in game four, with plenty of post game dramatics between players and staff from both clubs. Jason Williamson enjoyed a four point game with a goal and an assist, while CHL Rookie of the Year Cam Abbott scored the game winner and added a late insurance marker. The teams will now cool down for a couple of days in preparation for Game 5 Sunday in Wichita.

In Amarillo, the Gorillas never trailed in a 4-1 victory that guarantees a Game 6 Monday in New Mexico. Kevin Wilson scored the only goal in the first period converting on a power play opportunity, followed by Bill Vandermeers even strength goal early in the second. The only Scorpion goal came off the stick off Chris Robertson later in the middle frame, but a later power play goal by Chris Lipsett and an empty net tally by Vandermeer sealed the win. Shawn Conschafter was solid in net for the Gorillas, making 29 saves to improve his playoff record to 2-1.
