After winning just once in six regular season meetings at the CenturyTel Center, the Memphis RiverKings have taken a commanding 2 games to nothing lead over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs in their Northern Conference Semifinal series by sweeping the first two games in Louisiana.
Game 2 Box Score: Memphis 4 @ Bossier-Shreveport 1
Memphis Leads Series 2-0
The RiverKings never trailed in Game 2, with Derek Landmesser scoring his third of the series at the 12:56 mark. Jason Williamson, with his third of the post-season, evened the score for the Mudbugs early in the second while on the man advantage, but goals by Louis Dumont and Tyler McGregor just 2:07 apart put Memphis firmly back in control. Jason Sessa rounded out the scoring in the third, with both Dumont and McGregor assisting for their third points of the game.
Kevin Schieve picked up his second straight win in the Memphis nets, making 32 saves, while John DeCaro suffers his first playoff loss for Bossier-Shreveport, allowing four goals on 22 shots.
The Mudbugs, regular season CHL champions, face the difficult prospect of playing the next two games (Thursday and Saturday) on the road at the DeSoto Civic Center needing at least one win to extend the series to a Game 5 back in Bossier-Shreveport on April 22nd. Road teams continue to be undefeated thus far in the Conference Semifinals, with the Memphis win Sunday improving visiting teams to a shocking and unblemished record of 6-0.
CHL Conference Semifinal action resumes Monday, with Oklahoma City hosting Colorado in Game 3 of their series, currently tied 1-1, while Laredo hosts Corpus Christi to open a four games in five night stretch as their series gets underway.
