(Team Release) – The Arizona Sundogs of the Central Hockey League, in conjunction with the Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, today announced two preseason contests to be held at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13. Both games are slated for 7:05pm start times. The exhibition games, dubbed the ‘Battle of the Desert’, will feature both of Arizona’s professional ‘AA’ level hockey clubs. Following Saturday evening’s game, the winning club will be presented with the first annual ‘Glass Cactus’ trophy.

“Preseason games are an effective way for coaches to see how potential players are going to perform and matchup in real game situations,” said Head Coach and General Manager Marco Pietroniro. “Our situation is unique in that we are able to do so against a team that isn’t a member club of the CHL. It will be nothing short of exciting for our fans."

Arizona is 2-0-0 all-time in preseason games with both wins coming against the Colorado Eagles prior to the start of the 2006-07 season. The 2007 preseason contests against the RoadRunners will feature the first non-CHL opponent for the Club in its short history.

“Our organization is very excited to be able to bring the ECHL’s RoadRunners to our building for two exhibition games,” said Sundogs President Brent Thiessen. “It’s a unique opportunity for everyone involved in that our fans get to see a hockey club that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to and our business partners are receiving exposure to a customer base in Phoenix that they might not normally see.”

Tickets for the preseason contests will go on sale on Monday, September 10 at 10:00am and will cost $13 regardless of location in Tim’s Toyota Center.
