YOUNGSTOWN STEELHOUNDS VICTORY OVER LAREDO
VOTED BY FANS AS WEEK FOUR’S PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that the Youngstown SteelHounds 3-2 victory over the Laredo Bucks on November 10th has been voted by the fans as the winner of week four’s Performance of the Week. The showdown was considered the CHL’s regular season version of the Patriots-Colts pitting the then 10-0 Bucks versus the 8-0-1 SteelHounds.
The SteelHounds win received 42% of the votes (387), while Rocky Mountain’s Simon Watson’s back-to-back hat tricks finished second with 311 votes. In all, 919 votes were received. The SteelHounds win will be automatically considered for the 2007-08 CHL Performance of the Year which will be announced in April, 2008.
The SteelHounds are the top team in the CHL with a 12-1-1 record, 25 points. Youngstown has done all their damage on the road this season and will have their home opener on Friday, November 23rd versus Bossier-Shreveport.
The nominees for the CHL Performance of the Week for week five of the season are as follows:
• New Mexico’s Konrad Reeder’s two goal performance, including OT goal, versus Amarillo on Nov. 16th.
• Rio Grande Valley’s Jeff Van Nynatten making a CHL single-game season high 51 saves in OT loss to Laredo on November 13th.
• Austin’s Jason Tessier scoring two goals in the Ice Bat’s 13-round shootout victory over Odessa on November 17th.
• Mississippi’s four-goal second period in 4-3 win over Youngstown on November 16th.
• Rocky Mountain’s four-goal third period over Wichita in 5-1 victory on November 17th.
