Laplante Proving His Worth to Eagles
The Colorado Eagles felt in late January that they may not have the combination in goal that they wanted to make another run for the President’s Cup. So, head coach Chris Stewart decided to pull the trigger on a trade with the Wichita Thunder acquiring Sebastien Laplante.
Laplante's Bio
His regular season showing with the Eagles was not as impressive as Stewart had hoped going 11-7-2 including dropping each of the team’s last three games of the regular season pushing the deciding moment in Colorado’s Northwest Division championship until the final minutes of the season. The 5-10, 178-pound goaltender dropped his first two decisions as a member of the Eagles allowing nine goals but rebounded nicely going 11-3-1 over his next 15 decisions.
The playoffs have shown much more consistency for the Casselman, Ontario native winning seven games in 10 starts with three shutouts and a.938 save percentage. Laplante has the Eagles on the verge of the finals for the third time in four years giving them a chance to repeat as the President’s Cup champs.
The Eagles can advance to the finals with one more win and game six versus the Texas Brahmas is tonight at the Budweiser Events Center. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 PM (MST).
