“In the short time I was there, I saw a lot of potential,” Blanchette said. “Things weren’t going all that well at the time, but we were able to find a silver lining and have a good core of players coming back.”
Blanchette came to the Oilers from Rio Grande Valley in exchange for Josh Garbutt and played his first game for the Oilers on January 8^th , registering an assist against Oklahoma City. In 33 games with the Oilers he had six assists and 54 penalty minutes. In a total of 63 games with the Oilers and Rio Grande Valley he had nine assists and 114 penalty minutes.
“I’m glad to have such a steady defenseman like Adam coming back to us,” Oilers head coach Dan Hodge said. “He gives us a good solid presence on the blueline and will be a key player for us as we build a good defensive corps.”
