Brahmas Back in Conference Finals
For the second straight season, the Texas Brahmas are headed to the conference finals except this time it is the Southern Conference Finals where they will play the winner of the Laredo/Odessa semifinals series. Just like last season, the Brahmas get there after a sweep in the semifinals this time the victim was the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (last season Texas swept Bossier-Shreveport in the Northern Conference Semifinals). The Game Four score for Texas was 3-1.
Brahmas/Killer Bees Box Score
Tyler Skworchinski stayed red-hot scoring a pair of goals giving him six in the post-season (tied for the league-lead). Once again, the second-year player tallied the game winning goal giving him that honor in each of the Brahmas four playoff games. The CHL record for game winning goals in a single post-season is five.
Pete Rouleau started the scoring in the first period with a power play goal at the 4:08 mark. The Killer Bees outshot the Brahmas in the opening frame 10-8 but Brett Jaeger was sharp after leaving Game Three with an apparent injury late in the third period.
The Bees tied the game in the second period with Brent Gauvreau scoring a power play goal early in the frame but before the second period expired, Skworchinski would strike for his first of two and that is all Jaeger and the Brahmas would need.
Jaeger finished with 31 saves earning the win. Wylie Rogers stopped 20 shots taking the loss.
