Mudbugs Win One-Goal Battle with Gorillas
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (10-10-0) ended a brief two-game slide with a 4-3 victory versus the Amarillo Gorillas (8-11-4) in a rare Monday night game on the CHL schedule. The loss ended the Gorillas four-game point streak.
The Mudbugs scored the only goal in the first period behind Shawn Limpright’s power play goal and never trailed in the game. Brett Smith and Tyler Liebel scored second period goals split by tallies from David Nimmo and Jason Beeman, the first of two on the night, making the score 3-2 after two periods.
In the third, Jeff Kyrzakos scored his third goal of the season and first since scoring twice on Halloween extending the ‘Bugs lead to 4-2. A late goal from Beeman and a penalty to Bossier-Shreveport’s Chris St. Croix in the final minute made the finish very exciting but the Mudbugs would hold on for the win.
John DeCaro made 31 saves earning the win improving to 6-6-0 on the season and ending a personal three-game losing streak.
