WINDSOR, CO The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League and Altitude Sports & Entertainment (Altitude), the new Kroenke Sports Enterprises regional sports network, announced today a multi-year telecast agreement to present live Eagles games on Altitude. Matt Hutchings, COO of Altitude, and Bill Stewart, CEO of the Eagles made the announcement. Under the agreement, Altitude will annually televise up to 10 regular-season games beginning in the 2004-05 Central Hockey League season, as well as present the option to televise post-season contests. Altitude and the Eagles also have an option to produce and televise a monthly highlight show, as well as a pre- and post-season special. Financial terms of the agreement were not announced.
This agreement gives us credibility with fans, sponsors, and season-ticket holders not only through Northern Colorado but the state as a whole, said Eagles General Manager Ralph Backstrom. We hope that fans watching on television will be able to come up and see first-class hockey in person.
This is the first regional broadcast agreement for the Eagles who recently concluded their first season in the Central Hockey League. The franchise set a CHL record for an expansion team with 91 points and they had a 43-16-5 record. The Eagles also captured the Northwest Division title and the regular-season Northern Conference crown in their inaugural season. Colorado sold out all 32 regular-season home games and both playoff games at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland. Further information on the Eagles can be found at www.coloradoeagles.com.
"We commend the Eagles organization for finalizing this partnership with Altitude Sports, expressed CHL President Brad Treliving. This landmark agreement will further expose the excitement of the Eagles and CHL hockey to fans throughout the state of Colorado.
The deal marks the second programming agreement reached between Altitude and a local/regional organization Altitude announced its inception in February; Altitude and the Colorado Springs Sky Sox also announced a multi-year programming agreement. Further programming agreements with other local and regional organizations will be announced shortly.
Altitude is scheduled for debut in September 2004 with programming from the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Springs Sky Sox, and the Colorado Eagles, as well as other local and regional sports and entertainment programming.
