Saturday Night’s Wrap-Up
Saturday night featured a battle of champions as the reigning CHL champion Rapid City Rush ruined the Fort Wayne Komets ring ceremony by shutting out the IHL champs, 4-0.

Jackalopes 4 at Mallards 1
Sebastien Thinel had two goals and was a +3 as the Jacks scored four unanswered goals earning their first win of the season.
Rush 4 at Komets 0
Danny Battochio made 36 saves earning the shutout and Brendon Hodge scored a goal and had an assist as the Rush defeated the Fort Wayne Komets in front of 10,480 fans in the ‘Battle of Champions’
Mudbugs 2 at RiverKings 1
Shane Hart broke a one-all tie in the third period as the Mudbugs defeated the RiverKings for the second straight night. Jeff Harvey earned the win making 32 saves.
Bucks 4 at Killer Bees 3 (SO)
Ryan Lehr scored the shootout game winner as the Laredo Bucks split the two game series to open the season with the Bees. Daniel Koger scored twice in regulation and scored in the shootout as well.
PrairieThunder 2 at Mavericks 1 (SO)
Marco Emond made 27 saves and stopped four of five shooters in the shootout as John Snowden scored the game deciding goal lifting the PrairieThunder to the road victory in their opener.
Brahmas 4 at Americans 5 (SO)
Despite 53 saves from Texas’ Wayne Savage, the Americans defeated their cross-town rivals, this time in a shootout as Justin DaCosta scored the game winner in the 10th round of the extra showcase.
IceMen 1 at Gems 3
Jeff Jakaitis made 37 stops as the Dayton Gems scored a pair of third period goals lifting the goalie to the win. It was the Gems season opener.
Sundogs 3 at Eagles 5
The Eagles won their first game of the season scoring four times in the second period with Riley Nelson and Kevin Ulanski each tallying a goal and two assists.
Oilers 4 at Thunder 1
Jack Combs, Gordon Bell and Gary Steffes all scored third period goals lifting the visiting Tulsa Oilers to their second straight win over the Wichita Thunder. Trevor Cann stopped 35 shots earning the win.
