Northeast Division rivals Chad Woollard of Fort Worth and Ken Carroll of Bossier-Shreveport have been selected as the recipients of the Sher-Wood CHL Player and Goaltender of the Month awards for November. Woollard led the CHL with 24 points during November, while Carroll posted the top goals against average (1.47) and save percentage (.942) marks in the circuit. Both players will receive a custom designed leather from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL.
In Fort Worth, the Brahmas are clearly the CHLs most improved team this season, and the play of left winger Woollard has been key. The Brahmas posted a record of 9-2-0 during November, with the two-time CHL All-Star registering seven multi-point outings. His top two performances were a two-goal, two-assist contest in a 5-2 home ice win over Topeka on November 16th, and his second hat-trick of the year in a 5-2 win at Memphis on November 25th. Woollards 17 goals and 9 power play goals both lead the CHL, and he owns a share of the league scoring race lead with linemate Martin Paquet, both tied with 31 points. The 25 year-old from Durham, Ontario is easily on pace to establish new career highs in all offensive categories.
Netminder Ken Carroll continues to excel for Bossier-Shreveport, posting exceptional statistics during the Mudbugs 7-2-2 run in November. In six outings, Carroll held four opponents to a single goal or less, and posted CHL bests in both goals against average and save percentage. He recorded his first shutout of the season on November 26th, stopping Fort Worth 4-0 to end the Brahmas seven game winning streak. Carrolls outstanding November play has lowered his goals against average to 1.72 and increased his save percentage to .934, both trailing only Colorado rookie Tyler Weiman. Carroll began his pro career in the 00/01 season, earning both Most Outstanding Goaltender and Rookie of the Year honors in the WPHL.
