2010 CHL Most Outstanding Goaltender Works Way to NHL Deal
TEMPE, AZ (February 4, 2011) – The 2010 Central Hockey League Most Outstanding Goaltender award winner,
Joel Martin, has signed a National Hockey League (NHL) contract with the New York Islanders.
Martin becomes the first Jackalopes player to sign an NHL deal. The Three Hills, Alberta native has been on re-call with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers since January 4th (his second stint with the American Hockey League team this season). In five games with the Sound Tigers, Martin is 1-3-0 with a 2.99 goals against average and a .911 save percentage.
Martin won the CHL’s goaltending award a year ago after posting a 27-6-2 record with a 2.50 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. He was 10-9-0 at the time of his latest call-up this season.
