MOLINE, Ill. (February 24, 2011) – The Quad City Mallards of the “AA” Central Hockey League today announced that goaltender David Brown has returned to the team from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League and that netminder Adrian Lemay has been recalled by the AHL's Texas Stars.
Brown, 26, signed a professional tryout contract with the Marlies last Friday and was with the club for three games without taking to the ice. The Stoney Creek, Ontario, native has been called up to the AHL three times this season. Brown suited up for the Texas Stars and the Houston Aeros earlier in the campaign.
Brown leads the CHL in save percentage (.930), ranks second in goals against average (2.34) and is tied for the league lead in shutouts (3). He has gone 13-13-1 in 29 games this year.
The Mallards acquired Lemay on loan from the Stars last Saturday. The rookie did not see any game action during his time with the Flock.
The Mallards also announced that the team has changed the composition of its leadership group, with defenseman Darren McMillan to serve as team captain, while right wing Tyler Shelast and center Eric Giosa join center Joel Gasper as alternate captains. Shelast, Giosa and Gasper will rotate wearing “A”’s- two of the three will wear the letter for each game.
In addition, the Central Hockey League has announced the suspension of Mallards left wing Jake Riddle for two games after Riddle was assessed a match penalty in the Mallards’ 3-2 loss to the PrairieThunder in Bloomington Monday night.
