Series B Game 6 Wichita 1 @ Bossier-Shreveport 3
Best of Seven Game Series Tied 3-3
The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs just wont quit. Facing the prospect of a long off-season and playoff elimination, the Mudbugs came up with a textbook Game 6 and pulled out a 3-1 win to force a one-game winner-moves-on loser-goes-home seventh game Thursday at the CenturyTel Center. Veteran Forbes MacPherson was Mondays hero, opening and closing the scoring. Just 1:55 in he gave Bossier-Shreveport a 1-0 lead, then sealed the victory with an empty net marker with 42 seconds left to play. Shane Palahicky, the double overtime hero in Game 5, also scored, converting a second period power play opportunity. Joe Blaznek, with a goal with just over 4:00 minutes to play, spoiled Ken Carrolls (20 saves) shutout attempt, but the Thunder could get no closer. Thursday, both teams face elimination with no more second chances, with the winner advancing to face the resting Colorado Eagles in the Northern Conference Finals.
Series C Game 5 San Angelo 3 @ Laredo 4 (OT)
Laredo Leads Best of Seven Game 3-2
In a series as excruciating close as this one, its no surprise the clubs needed overtime to decide Game 5. The Bucks finally solved San Angelos standout goaltender Scott Reid, storming back with three straight third period goals to erase a 1-0 deficit. The Saints refused to quit, and Bret Dececco, with goals with 2:20 and just seven ticks left on the clock, tied the game 3-3 and forced overtime. Early in the extra frame, Adam Paiement capitalized to give the Bucks the win and a 3-2 series lead. Both clubs immediately left for San Angelo following the game in preparation for Tuesdays Game 6. A Laredo win Tuesday would end the series and set up a rematch of last years Southern Conference Finals with Amarillo, while a San Angelo victory on home ice would force a return to Laredo for Game 7 on Thursday.
