His physical play and presence are always noted but during last season’s Presidents’ Cup run, Rapid City forward
Colt King was kept relatively quiet on the offense front playing more of a checking role.
This year, the Thunder Bay, Ontario native has scored goals in four of the Rush’s five games including two power play scores and one shorthanded goal.
In Saturday’s 4-3 win in Game Two over Fort Wayne, King showed up huge in the third period. His team entered the final frame trailing 3-2 but a power play goal from King early in the period tied the score and later in the period he assisted on Josh Beaulieu’s game winning shorthanded goal giving the Rush a 2-0 series lead.
In fact, the Rush have yet to lose in this year’s post-season and dating back to last year have won eight straight playoff games.
During all of last season’s run (15 games), King scored just one goal and had five assists. Already this year, King has five points (4-1=5) in five games.
