Goaltender Scott Reid Re-Signs with Sundogs
12-Year Veteran Returns for Second Season in the Desert
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Arizona Sundogs announced today that veteran goaltender Scott Reid has re-signed with the team for the upcoming 2011-12 Central Hockey League season.
Reid, 34, joined the Sundogs at the conclusion of last season, appearing in one regular season game and four postseason contests.
A native of Grand Prairie, Alberta, Reid turned aside 35 of 38 shots in a 4-3 shootout loss to the Rapid City Rush on March 25th, his lone regular season appearance with Arizona. In his four playoff starts he compiled a 1-3 mark with a 2.48 GAA and .924 SV%.
“Scott joined our team late last season and stepped in and played extremely well giving us a chance to win every game,” said head coach Marco Pietroniro. “The team had confidence playing in front of him and it showed. He has a great attitude and brings veteran experience to our club and we’re thrilled to have him back for next season.”
The 6-foot-4, 205-pound netminder appeared in 34 games with the Edinburgh Capitals of England’s Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) to start the 2010-11 campaign before joining the CHL’s Texas Brahmas for six contests.
The 12-year-pro has also spent parts of two seasons in the American Hockey League (AHL) during his career, appearing in 20 total games with the Milwaukee Admirals, Norfolk Admirals and Peoria Rivermen.
Reid was named the CHL’s Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2003-04 after putting together a 32-9-4 campaign with the San Angelo Saints while leading the league in both save percentage (.934) and shutouts (6).
The majority of his career has been played in the CHL, skating for the San Antonio Iguanas, San Angelo, the Corpus Christi Rayz, New Mexico Scorpions and Rocky Mountain Rage in addition to his stops with Texas and Arizona. Reid is a four-time CHL All-Star and ranks sixth in league history with 140 wins, plus eighth all-time with 11 shutouts.
Reid is the first goaltender signed by the Sundogs this offseason.
