The Rapid City Rush (5-2-1) fell to the Wichita Thunder (6-1-0) on Wednesday night in a close back and forth battle that ended in a 5-3 score. Collin Hemingway was the home-town hero tonight as he netted a hat trick and the game winner to push his team to victory.

The Thunder started off strong at 3:17 of the first period as Collin Hemingway tallied one against the Rush’s goaltender, Danny Battochio, for the first of three.
The Rush answered with a goal by Jeff Kyrzakos, but then lost momentum again as Hemingway put away his second off the night.
It was back and forth until the score was tied at 3-3, where Hemingway finally achieved the hat trick that the fans wanted to see, and was soon to be the game winner.
The Thunder went on to score again as Daniel Tetrault got the insurance and the final goal as Wichita defeated Rapid City.
Adam Russo made 31 saves in net and rallied up the victory for the Thunder.
Wichita’s hot streak continues at home this Friday night as they face off against the Quad City Mallards.
