HIDALGO — Every shift Brady Leavold takes he skates like it’s a bonus.
Leavold’s story is well-known and it manifests itself in a player who appreciates what he has and the second chance he’s been given.
It’s something people are noticing.
“He’s kind of given us a boost,” Terry Ruskowski said. “He comes in here, he’s physical, he’ll chirp guys. He’ll drive hard to the net, he had some good goal-scoring opportunities (Tuesday) and the more he plays the better he’s going to get.”
That has proven true.
Through his first seven games Leavold was scoreless and a minus-7. His energy and physical play was there but he looked rusty. It appeared Ruskowski’s experiment of adding a player who hadn’t played in two years during a tight playoff race wasn’t working.
But that’s changed.
