So the Fort Wayne Komets are down again in a playoff series, this time 2-0 to the Missouri Mavericks in the Central Hockey League's Turner Conference finals. Once again, they probably should be thinking of what they want to say as they shake hands with the Mavericks at the end of the series and start planning to pack up apartments and head north for home.
They're done, right? Over 60 years, the Komets have never before lost the first two games of a playoff series at home and found a way to come back and win it.
But there's this script the Komets have learned to follow over the last 10 years during times like this. That means coach Al Sims steps up his mantra of confidence as if he can will it to blossom inside his players' chests. He's the best at that.
