The Central Hockey Leagues Captains For Courage auction, benefiting local area childrens charities in each CHL market, ended Wednesday afternoon promptly at 5:00 PM CST, generating an unofficial total of $9,075 for charities. Each CHL team captain and their club donated game worn jerseys for the program, with all proceeds directly distributed to a local market charity as designated by the member team.
The highest bid for one of the special jerseys was turned in by a fan of Youngstown SteelHounds' captain Jeff Christian, who captured the sweater for $1020. Jerseys worn by Bossier-Shreveport's Dan Wildfong, Colorado's Greg Pankewicz, and Rio Grande Valley's Dwayne Hay each brought in over $800 each for their teams' local charities.
Each jersey comes complete with a Hoffen Foundation / Caps For Courage patch and is autographed by the captain. 14 of the jerseys made available were game worn by team captains in recent weeks, while the Colorado Eagles donated the game worn jersey Captain Greg Pankewicz used for all home games during their 2004-2005 CHL Ray Miron Presidents Cup championship run.
