Jason Duda appeared to be trying to steal the spotlight from good friend and linemate Travis Clayton. Duda recorded a hat trick on Wednesday night on the Thunder's 5-0 victory over divsion rival Colorado, but it was Clayton who provided the assists on two of the goals, recording his 700th career point in the process. The Wichita forward, a third of perhaps the most dynamic line ever in the Central Hockey League, joins elite company in Doug Lawrence and all-time leading CHL scorer Joe Burton as the only three players above the 700 point mark.
Clayton is currently ranked among the top ten in many all-time CHL scoring categories. He is third in points (701), tied for fifth in assists (429), and seventh in goals (272), along with ranking sixth in games played (558). The aforementioned Jason Duda is right there with his teammate in all of those categories, inlcuding goals (8th, 271), assists (7th, 427), and CHL games played (5th, 567).
The historic trio in the 700 point club is about to grow to four, however, as the Duda sits at 698 points and could hit the mark Friday night in Fort Worth. You should expect nothing less than three goals from Clayton, just a friend returning the favor.
