10/22 Wichita 4 vs. Allen 3 (SO)
The Americans built a 3-0 lead through the first two periods only to have the Thunder roar back with three goals in a 4:09 stretch of the third period to tie the game. Wichita won in a shootout with Tim Kraus scoring the game winner in the ninth round. Daniel Tetrault and Colin Hemingway each finished with a goal and an assist as the Thunder improved to 2-0 winning each of their first two games in shootouts.
10/26 Missouri 7 vs. Arizona 2
The Mavericks continued to steamroll teams to start the season improving to 3-0 while outscoring their opposition 14-4. In this game, the first of three straight wins over the Sundogs, the Mavs fell behind 2-0 in the first period but scored four times in the second frame and three times in the third for the blowout win. Missouri went 3 for 3 on the power play and both John-Scott Dickson (1-3=4) and Dale Mahovsky (2-2=4) had four points in the game. Charlie Effinger was brilliant in net stopping 49 of 51 shots.
