The Rapid City Rush announced today that they have acquired defenseman
Justin Sawyer from the Wichita Thunder and forward
David Solway from the Tulsa Oilers as the future considerations from previous trades during the season.
Sawyer was selected by the Rush as the futures from the
Jarred Mohr trade that sent the defenseman to the Thunder just prior to the start of the season.
Sawyer brings size and toughness to the Rush and a veteran presence as he enters his eighth season. Last year, the Peterborough, Ontario native had five goals, four assists and 151 penalty minutes with the Thunder who advanced all the way to the Ray Miron Presidents’ Cup Finals.
In the playoffs, Sawyer dressed in 16 games and compiled 30 PIM’s and was a +3.
The veteran has 56 points (12-44=56) and 1,338 penalty minutes in his 375 career professional games.
The Rush also added the speedy Solway as the future considerations from the
Gio Flamminio deal.
Solway had a solid rookie season scoring 15 goals with 28 assists in 56 games. The Green Bay native led all Oilers with five game winning goals.
