If it was up to Ed Belfour, he would still be playing in the NHL.
``I love the game, it's all I ever wanted to do,'' Belfour said Monday at the press conference that introduced he, Mike Modano, Craig Ludwig and Richard Matvichuk as part of the new management/coaching group for the Allen Americans.
The move is a significant one for Belfour, 47, and he's taking it very seriously. Once a goaltending consultant for the St. Louis Blues, Belfour has spent more recent time tinkering on his ranch near Allen with family, fishing, hunting and cars. But those close to him say the Hall of Fame goalie clearly is focused on hockey these days.
``I definitely was curious to see how much Eddie was into this, and I've been very impressed,'' said Ludwig, who acted as a coordinator for Americans owner Doug Miller in assembling the former players. ``He's probably more intense than any of us, and he's really working hard to understand the business and to make the best decisions.''
