A day after Bossier-Shreveports Abbott brothers combined for three goals and five points in a come from behind 4-3 win at Colorado, they enjoyed an even bigger outing in leading the Mudbugs to a 6-5 overtime win at Rocky Mountain Thursday night. Twins Cam and Chris each had three assists in Thursdays win, and Chris wired home a drop pass from Cam for the game winning goal just 17 seconds into the extra frame.
The game featured a total of four goaltenders, with both clubs replacing their starters, and a game Rocky Mountain club coming back to earn a point after trailing 4-1 after the opening 20 minutes. The Rage actually nearly had their 12th win of the season after taking a 5-4 lead with under four minutes to play, but Ryan Fairbarns 5th goal of the season at the 16:06 mark forced overtime and set up the Abbott brothers heroics. Matic Kralj and Bret DeCecco each scored their eight and ninth goals of the year for the Rage, with Adam Loncon scoring his sixth of the season. Also scoring for the Mudbugs were Chris Gustafson (4th), Jason Williamson (3rd), Dan Wildfong (15th), and Brian Sutherland with his first professional score.
The win moves the Mudbugs just two points behind Memphis with equal games played in the Northeast Division race, and five points behind Colorado for the overall CHL lead, with the Eagles enjoying a game in hand over both Bossier-Shreveport and the RiverKings.
