Robert 'Bobby' Gilbert, former owner of the Tulsa Oilers passed away on March 27th at the age of 73. He purchased the Oilers in the 1974-75 season in the previous Central Hockey League and owned the team until the end of the 1981 season. Following his tenure as owner of the Oilers, he operated the concessions at the Tulsa Convention Center for a number of years. Current Amarillo Coach Jim Wiley played for the Oilers during Gilberts tenure owning the club.
"He was just a really neat guy, and our prayers and condolences go out to Bobby's family," Oilers president Jeff Lund said.
Services for Mr. Gilbert will be Saturday March 31 at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home Southlawn Chapel, located on 51st Street between Memorial and Mingo.
