Friday Night Roundup – Rage Exact Some Revenge Against New Mexico
The Rocky Mountain Rage (18-2-2) won their sixth straight game on Friday night and their first in three chances this season against New Mexico (12-10-3). The only two regulation set-backs this season for the Rage came at the hands of the Scorpions.
Tyler Butler had a goal and three assists extending his point streak to 15 games. Simon Watson scored a pair of power play goals for Rocky Mountain who went 3 for 4 with the man advantage. Daymen Rycroft scored the other Rage goal.
Goaltender Scott Reid made 28 saves improving to 14-0-1 on the season.

Youngstown 1 @ Tulsa 3
The Oilers ended a four-game winless streak against Youngstown, the top team in the Northeast Division, behind former Hound Jeff Christian who scored the game winning goal and had an assist. Kevin St. Pierre had arguably his best outing of the season making 32 saves and Warren McCutcheon scored a goal for the sixth consecutive game, the longest goal streak in the CHL this season.
Odessa 1 @ Amarillo 0
Alexandre Vincent and the Odessa Jackalopes recorded their second straight shutout with a 1-0 victory over Amarillo. The only goal of the game was scored by Mike Rutter on the power play late in period number one. Odessa has not allowed a goal in the last 123:46 of play. Dan McWhinney made 35 saves in the hard-luck loss for the Gorillas who see their four-game win streak come to an end.
Austin 2 @ Laredo 4
The Bucks rebounded after last night’s shutout loss at Odessa with a two-goal victory over Austin. Jeff Bes scored his first goal since Thanksgiving (10 straight games) and had an assist. Andrew Desjardins scored a goal and had two helpers while goaltender Kevin Beech made 19 saves improving to 8-1-1 on the season.
Bossier-Shreveport 2 @ Oklahoma City 0
John DeCaro had his busiest night of the season making 41 saves en route to his league-leading fourth shutout of the season. Karlis Zirnis and Daniel Pegoraro scored for the Mudbugs who handed the Blazers their third straight loss. The win was the fourth straight for Bossier-Shreveport.
Texas 3 @ Mississippi 6
The RiverKings won their fifth straight game and in the process tied the Youngstown SteelHounds for first place in the Southeast Division. The RiverKings offense has been on fire scoring 28 goals over their five-game win streak. Louis Dumont scored a pair of goals and Ryan Campbell had three assists in the victory.
Wichita 2 @ Colorado 4
Ed McGrane scored twice as the shorthanded Eagles ended a brief two-game slide in Head Coach Chris Stewart’s first game behind the bench this season (missed the first 22 games after off-season back surgery). Wichita’s Travis Clayton moved into second place on the CHL’s all-time goal scoring list with his 313th CHL goal. Jon Horrell made 51 saves in the loss for the Thunder.
Rio Grande Valley 6 @ Arizona 10
The Sundogs set a franchise record on Friday night hanging a 10-spot on the visiting Killer Bees. Alex Leavitt (two goals, two assists) and Olivier Latandresse (one goal, four assists) led the offensive attack for the Southwest Division leading Sundogs. The Bees fought back from a 4-1 deficit to tie the game at six at the 12:08 mark of the third period but Arizona responded scoring the game’s final four goals. It was the second time in a week the Killer Bees had allowed 10 goals in a game.
