Blazers Outlast Oilers Again, 5-3 on Christmas Day!
The Oklahoma City Blazers (12-12-2) hosted the Tulsa Oilers (7-15-2) on Christmas Day at the Ford Center in the Blazers annual Holiday game. In front of a crowd of 10,181, it was the home town Blazers who used two third period goals from D.J. Jelitto to gain the victory and win their second consecutive game against the Oilers. The win moves the Blazers back to .500 on the season and improves their home mark to 8-3-2.
Tulsa struck first with Lucas Burnett scoring his fifth goal of the season early in the first period. OKC would answer back with a pair of Ryan Watson power play goals giving the Blazers a 2-1 lead after the first period. David Beauregard (Tulsa) and Mike Burgoyne (OKC) would exchange power play goals in the second period before a shorthanded goal by Kai Magnussen would tie the game after 40 minutes of play.
Jelitto would come through in the third period netting his 10th and 11th goals of the season. The game winner came at the 9:07 mark of the period on the power play (OKC went 4 for 12 with the man advantage) and the second came into an empty net.
The Blazers outshot the Oilers 38-31 as Sean Connors earned the victory making 28 saves. He improves to 4-7-1 on the season.
