CHL ON-ICE OFFICIALS SHOW SUPPORT FOR “LET’S BLOW THE WHISTLE ON BLOOD CANCERS – SKATE-A-THON”
The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that their on-ice officials (both referees and linemen) will wear a special sticker on their helmets during Friday’s and Saturday’s CHL games (February 1st and 2nd) in support of the Hustle for a Cure – The John D’Amico Fund’s Skate-A-Thon scheduled for Saturday, February 2nd from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at the Ricoh Coliseum, CNE Grounds in Toronto, Ontario (home of the AHL’s Toronto Marlies).
The Skate-A-Thon will consist of 20 plus current and retired NHL officials, NHL Alumni, NHL Executives, Hockey Hall of Fame members, sports media members and NLL stars attending in an effort to raise money for the fight against blood cancers in support of The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
“We are honored to be participating in such a worthy cause,” said Duane Lewis, CHL’s Vice President of Operations. “Wayne Bonney (CHL's Supervisor of Officials) has done a great job working with the Officials to assist in such efforts around the world of hockey; we applaud the work of the John D’Amico Fund to help battle blood cancers.”

About Hustle For A Cure – The John D’Amico Fund
Hustle For A Cure was created in August of 2007 and was created in memory of honored Hockey Hall of Fame member John D’Amico. The mission of this charity is to create much needed awareness of blood cancers. Blood cancers have not only affected more NHLers (Jason Blake, Saku Koivu, Mario Lemieux, John D’Amico and other) than any other cancers, they are the number one disease killing children today.
