Blazers Win Pre-Season Opener, 4-3
The Oklahoma City Blazers won their pre-season opener in Tulsa on Thursday night by a 4-3 score. The Blazers outshot the Oilers by a 45-20 count as both Kevin St. Pierre and Guy St. Vincent looked sharp for Tulsa despite taking the ‘L’.
OKC built a four goal lead with goals from Robin Gomez, Tyler Harder, Jason Murfitt and Brian Passmore (the game winner). They led 4-0 with under 15 minutes remaining in the game when Tulsa began their comeback. Chris Kovalcik and Kell Sickavish scored less than a minute apart making the score 4-2. With 30 seconds remaining, Kai Magnussen cut the lead to one but that was as close as Tulsa would get.
Doug Groenestege made 17 saves earning the victory.
