COYOTES ASSIGN DEFENSEMAN ZIMMERMAN TO ARIZONA
Sundogs Finalize Roster, Release Galloway
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The 2008 Central Hockey League Ray Miron President’s Cup Champion Arizona Sundogs announced today that NHL parent club the Phoenix Coyotes has reassigned defenseman Sean Zimmerman from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL) to the Sundogs.
A sixth round draft pick (170th overall) of the New Jersey Devils in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, Zimmerman spent a majority of the 2007-08 season with New Jersey’s triple-A American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Lowell Devils. In 66 games with Lowell last season, the 6-foot-3, 205-pound defenseman registered six assists and 47 penalty minutes (PIM). Zimmerman also appeared in eight games with Trenton (ECHL), the Devils’ double-A affiliate, and collected one assist and 10 PIM.
The Phoenix Coyotes acquired Zimmerman this summer in a trade for former Coyotes prospect and Sundogs forward Kevin Cormier.
In other roster moves to meet the CHL’s mandated 19-man roster limit, the Sundogs have released rookie forward Warren Galloway and placed forward Mark Kolanos on the CHL’s negotiation list. Galloway tallied one goal in two exhibition games with Arizona during preseason play.
