Mississippi’s Kevin Beech Named Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month
The Central Hockey League announced today that Kevin Beech of the Mississippi RiverKings has been named the Sher-Wood/Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Month for the month of February/2009. Beech will receive a Sher-Wood/CHL logoed portable DVD player, courtesy of Sher-Wood, to recognize his accomplishment.
It marks the second consecutive month that Beech has won the monthly award, a feat accomplished last year by Bossier-Shreveport’s Ken Carroll.
Beech went 9-0-1 during the near perfect month for himself and his team. He allowed 26 goals for a 2.55 goals against average and had a .908 save percentage. Most impressively for the Brantford, Ontario native were the opponents beating Colorado three times, Odessa twice, Rocky Mountain once and Oklahoma City once. On the season, Beech leads the league with 30 wins and three shutouts and ranks fourth with a 2.40 goals against average. The RiverKings are on top of the Northeast Division with a 37-14-3 record overall.
Other players receiving consideration for the Sher-Wood/CHL Goaltender of the Month for February include Bossier-Shreveport’s Jon Horrell, Laredo’s Andrew Martin, New Mexico’s Kyle McNulty, Oklahoma City’s Doug Groenestege, Rio Grande Valley’s Christian Boucher and Texas’ Brett Jaeger.
