HIEBERT ADDED TO BRAHMAS ROSTER
Experience will bolster Brahmas lineup
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (October 30)- Grit, grind and goals will be added to the Texas Brahmas lineup this weekend as they have announced the signing of winger James Hiebert on Friday.
Hiebert is no stranger to the Central Hockey League (CHL) as he played with the Laredo Bucks for six seasons. As a member of the Southern Conference foe, Laredo, the Hay River, NWT native collected 251 points (87 G, 164 A) in 246 regular season games. Last season Hiebert was a late pick-up for the Bucks and he recorded 6 points (2 G, 4 A) in 8 games and had 3 points (1 G, 2 A) in four playoff games.
In 2007-08 Hiebert was second in scoring among the Laredo roster posting 64 points (26 G, 38 A) in 54 games played. His 186 penalty minutes that season put him in the top 25 in the League (22nd). The 5-foot-10 forward has built a reputation as one of the CHL’s tough guys, a characteristic Brahmas Head Coach Dan Wildfong knows well. Wildfong, former captain of the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, faced Hiebert from 2003-2007.
“We look forward to James joining our organization and believe he will be a great fit. From experience, I know he is a tough opponent to face, so it will be nice to have him play for the Brahmas and not against us,” Wildfong said.
Prior to going professional, Hiebert played Juniors with the Swift Current Broncos (WHL) racking up 174 points (70 G, 104 A) in 242 games and 502 penalty minutes.
