OAKLEY CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK ANNOUNCED
Missouri’s Groenestege Wins Weekly Award
The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipient for the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending November 1st, 2009 is Doug Groenestege of the Missouri Mavericks.
Groenestege wins the weekly award after going 2-0 on the week with the Mavericks first two franchise wins, both versus Wichita. The Stratford, Ontario native allowed only one goal on the week stopping 46 of 47 shots (.979). Groenestege took home his first shut out of the season stopping all 21 shots on a Halloween win against Wichita. Last season as a member of the Oklahoma City Blazers, Groenestege took home two goaltender of the week honors and one goaltender of the month award.
In recognition of his achievement, Groenestege will receive a special gift from Oakley.
