Big Road Wins for North Teams
It was a big night for the road teams on Tuesday night, especially the road teams from the North as Tulsa, Rapid City and Missouri all came away with wins.
The Oilers did so in a shootout win at Rio Grande Valley in front of a capacity crowd. The story of the game was Tulsa goaltender Marty Magers who stopped 54 shots, the most in a single CHL game this season. Derek Merlini scored the Oilers goal in regulation and Aaron Davis earned the game winner in the shootout.
Rapid City pulled to within two points of the Northern Conference leading Colorado Eagles with their 19th win of the season in a 4-2 victory over Wichita (the loss was the Thunder’s 16th straight, 0-14-2). Jon Pelle scored two goals and had an assist and Miguel Beaudry made 30 saves winning for the third time in his last four decisions.
The Mavs are on their first ever three-game win streak as they topped Mississippi 5-2. Missouri built a 3-0 lead after first period goals from Jeff MacDermid, Carlyle Lewis and Tommy Lange. Bill Vandermeer finished with a goal and as assist for Missouri.
