Weisgerber Back With Saints

San Angelo, TX—After a championship season, top players can expect offers to play hockey around the world, and sometimes it becomes a difficult decision. The San Angelo Saints today announced the re-signing of Trevor Weisgerber for the 2004-05 season. Weisgerber returns for his third year with the San Angelo Saints as one of the top goal scorers from the 2003-04 season. The 6’2” 185-pound left-winger played in all 64 games last season scoring 24 goals and 38 assists in regular season play and another 2 assists in the post-season run. After brief play with the Oklahoma City Blazers, also of the Central Hockey League, Weisgerber joined the Saints in 2002 and averaged a point per game with 39 points (17 goals, 22 assists) in 39 games.

Saints Head Coach/Assistant General Manager Ray Edwards will look to Weisgerber for more than dedication on the ice. “Trevor is going to help with some of the administration duties that need to get done, but more importantly he will be looked upon to lead out team on the ice. He is great on the road, in the locker room and is a huge part of our offensive plan; he brings a lot to the table,” said Edwards.

“I’m excited to be back for another year,” says Weisgerber. “I’m looking forward to helping Ray (Edwards) with anything he needs whether it is recruiting, making travel arrangements or whatever. Since I’m an older player, I plan to lead by example and help the young guys learn Ray’s philosophies. I have nothing but respect for Ray and I am ready to get back to San Angelo.”

Saints President Jim Cook is proud to have Weisgerber back on the roster. “I’m personally very happy to have him back. He is a great asset to this organization—on the ice he’s performed among the best and has always represented the Saints in a positive light.”

The puck drops October 22 as the Saints host the Laredo Bucks in the first game of the 2004-05 season.
