Americans Captain Re-Signs for 2010-11 Season
In the midst of an already fruitful offseason, the Southern Conference Champion Allen Americans received yet another boost today as it was announced that Jarret Lukin, captain of the 2009-2010 squad signed an agreement with the club.
The Fort McMurray, Alberta native potted 14 goals and 32 points in 47 regular season games last year. The exceptionally skilled center also contributed 14 points in 20 playoff games on the Americans road to the Ray Miron Cup finals.
Prior to arriving in Allen, the left-handed center skated in the ECHL during two productive seasons with the Florida Everblades from 2006-08, followed by one with the Dayton Bombers in 2008-09, where he registered 49 points (22+27=49) in 66 games. Lukin said that last season’s experience factored in heavily to his decision to come back to Allen.
“It was an awesome experience there [in Allen] last season,” Lukin said. “The longer the summer went on the more I wanted to come back to the team.”
Include Americans Head Coach and General Dwight Mullins among the many elated to have number 40 playing his home games at the Allen Event Center for another season. Mullins said that getting Lukin signed was an important piece of the offseason.
“Jarret was a great leader on and off the ice,” Mullins said. “He competes hard every day. We expect him to make a big impact this year.”
Lukin was equally complementary of the work that Coach Mullins, alongside Associate Head Coach Bill McDonald have done during the offseason.
“I love the direction that Mully and Macker are going with our group,” Lukin said. “It sounds like we have some real solid guys assembled for this season.”
Lukin is the 12th player signing announced by the club this offseason.
