The Northern Conference edged the host Southern Conference in the Laredo National Bank 2005 CHL All-Star Skills Competition Tuesday evening at the Laredo Entertainment Center. The host Laredo Bucks captured two of the individual honors to delight the home crowd. Laredo Bucks forward (and Southern Conference Captain) Brent Cullaton captured his second straight fastest skater award. After winning in Albuquerque in 2004 with a time of 14.28, Cullaton turned in a lap of 14.61 to win the CRAGAR Fastest Skater competition. Northern Conference Captain and Colorado forward Greg Pankewicz (pictured) ripped a 91 mph shot to take home the WHATABURGER Hardest Shot event. In the SHER-WOOD Accuracy Shootout, Lubocks Anders Strome hit four targets on six shots to emerge victorious, while Laredos Jeremy Symington took home Top Goaltender honors for the most combined saves in the CINTAS Rapid Fire, LACKS Pass and Score and LAREDO NATIONAL BANK Breakaway Relay events.
Wednesday, the DODGE 2005 CHL All-Star Game takes place live on CHLTV.com and taped for a Friday airing on FSN Southwest with broadcasters Joe Dominey, Glen Norman and Rob Simpson.
