Using the home crowd as King Leonidas used his 300 to defeat the Persians, the Colorado Eagles will look to use the momentum generated by their fans to win their final home game of the regular season tonight against the Laredo Bucks.
Pre-Game Notes
The game will mark the 300th consecutive sellout (regular season and playoffs) for the Eagles, already a minor pro record for consecutive packed houses. In the regular season, it will be the 250th straight sellout.
Colorado is 222-63-14 through their first 299 games at the Budweiser Events Center (190-50-14 in the regular season).
It is fitting that the opponent is the Laredo Bucks who the Eagles have quite a history with and who, along with the Eagles owned the CHL from 2003-07. The two clubs combined to win four straight Championships with each team hoisting the Cup twice. For Colorado, their Championship quests ended with Finals series wins over the Bucks in both 2005 and 2007.
This season, the tale is a bit different as the Eagles are in familiar territory tied for first place in the Turner Conference with 76 points bit Laredo has been struggling fighting for their playoff lives. Currently, the Bucks are two points behind Rio Grande Valley for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Last night, the Eagles were dominant defeating the Rapid City Rush by a 7-3 count. Scott May had two goals and three assists and Kyle Peto contributed four helpers for Colorado.
Laredo enters tonight’s game winners of back-to-back games topping Missouri and Arizona over the weekend.
