Bossier-Shreveport forward Ryan Manitowich and Odessa goaltender Mike Gorman have been selected as the respective recipients of the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week awards for Week Two of the Central Hockey League season. Mantowich scored five goals and added a single assist in three contests for Bossier-Shreveport, the only CHL club yet to suffer a regulation loss, while Gorman allowed just four goals against in two Jackalopes victories, including a 4-0 home shutout performance against Lubbock.

Bossier-Shreveport leads the Central Hockey League with nine points in five contests, and third year Mudbug Ryan Manitowich recorded his fifth and sixth multiple goal games of his career in wins over Austin and Memphis. In Friday’s 5-0 home shutout win over the Ice Bats, Manitowich notched his second professional hat-trick while also scoring the game winning goal. The following evening, he helped the Mudbugs pick up their first road victory of the campaign, scoring twice (again including the game winner) in a 6-4 comeback win in Memphis. With five goals and seven points in five games, the Calgary native is easily on pace to surpass the professional highs of 17 goals and 32 points he posted last season.

Odessa netminder Mike Gorman wins CHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the sixth time in his career, and for the first time since Week Six of the 2002-2003 season. Gorman posted one of only two shutouts to date this season with a 37-save 4-0 blanking of visiting Lubbock during the Jackalopes home opener on October 28th, then earned his second win of the season two days later, making 35 saves in a 5-4 road victory over Amarillo. The veteran goaltender has recorded 108 CHL wins (sixth all-time) and 13 shutouts (fourth all-time) during his Odessa career, and was named the CHL’s Most Outstanding Goaltender in 2001-2002. The Nepean, Ontario native also represented Odessa during two Central Hockey League All-Star Games; in 2002 in Corpus Christi and in 2003 at Oklahoma City.
