Tulsa All-Star defenseman Mario Joly and Lubbock forward Nolan Graham enjoyed spectacular Sunday evening contests in leading their respective clubs to victory. Joly knocked home his first three goals of the season as Tulsa rolled to a 4-1 win in Amarillo, while Graham broke open a 3-3 with two goals in the third period to wrap up his hat-trick in a 5-3 win over visiting Austin.
Tulsa 4 @ Amarillo 1
All-Star defenseman Mario Joly's sluggish start to the 2005-2006 season is over, busting out with a four point performance in a 4-1 win Sunday in Amarillo. Entering the contest with just three points, and zero goals, on the season, Joly scored the first three goals of the game and also set up Todd Paul's power play marker. Chris King improved to 3-0-0 in the Tulsa net, making 24 saves while allowing only Bryan Lachapelle's goal with six and a half minutes left in the game. The Oilers return home briefly before heading to Youngstown for games Friday and Saturday against the SteelHounds, while Amarillo hopes to rebound with a road trip to Laredo Friday and Corpus Christi Saturday.
Austin 3 @ Lubbock 5
Emery Olauson appeared to be the star of the game for Lubbock early on, scoring his fourth and fifth goals of the season and assisting on Nolan Graham's power play score. Graham stole the spotlight, however, with two goals in the third period, including his hat-trick marker into an empty net, as Lubbock improves to 2-0-0 on home ice. Dave MacIntyre led Austin with his fourth goal of the year and two assists, with Paul Vincent and Aaron Schneekloth also scoring. Lubbock now prepares for a Tuesday matinee contest against visiting Odessa, while Austin returns home and awaits a Thursday visit from Laredo.
