Rapid City Rush general manager Tim Hill already has his shopping list for what will be a milestone year for the Central Hockey League franchise.
“We’re just looking forward to our Year 5, and we’re going to celebrate it right,” Hill said. “We want to create some new interest and reinvent ourselves in terms of entertainment, get a team that we think we can win it all. How great would it be to win it in Year 5?”
The Rush thought this year’s team could bring home Rapid City’s second CHL President’s Cup, but the front office and coaching staff got an unwelcome jump-start on next year after a conference semifinal series loss to the Fort Wayne Komets.
The early exit, coming after Rapid City’s championship season in 2010 and a run to within one game of a return trip to the finals last year, means fans should not take success for granted.
