Komets Hope Home Ice Advantage Means Something

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. – For everyone who thinks that the Komets returning to home ice is a bad thing, coach Al Sims has a message.

“I think you guys forget that we only lost eight games at home in the regular season. The best team (Texas) lost seven,” Sims said. “We had six (overtime/shootout) losses, so obviously that hurt us and hurt our record at home, but we only had nine losses in regulation and we’re very comfortable at home.

“We worked 66 games to get the home-ice advantage (in the conference). We beat Dayton three straight at the end of the season to get the home-ice advantage. Now hopefully it’s going to pay dividends.”
