The Missouri Mavericks signed forward Colt King Monday afternoon.

He is the first player to sign with the Mavericks for the upcoming season. King, 29, is entering his ninth professional season and fifth in the Central Hockey League. King spent last season with the Sheffield Steelers in England.

The power forward, a former fourth-round draft pick of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, won the President's Cup with Rapid City in 2010.
